The Lovingston community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Oliver “Oli” Forlines, who passed away on August 26, 2026, at just 12 years old. His death has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, church family, teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In a deeply emotional message shared by his family, Oli’s grandparents described the unimaginable pain of losing a child so full of life, kindness, and promise. They asked for prayers for his parents, Jonathan Forlines and Gloria Hall, as they navigate a grief too profound for words. Special prayers were also requested for his younger brother, Elisha, known as Eli, who shared an inseparable bond with Oli.
Born on May 7, 2014, Oli was known for his gentle heart, creativity, and compassion. Whether he was building with Legos, exploring nature, reading books, playing soccer, gaming, or collecting rocks, he approached life with curiosity and joy. Friends and family remember him as someone who genuinely cared for others and often surprised people with small gifts or acts of encouragement simply to brighten their day.
A devoted follower of Christ, Oli was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and a beloved participant in its youth ministry. His faith played a central role in his life, shaping the kindness and generosity that became his hallmark. He was also involved in Nelson County’s 4-H program and local recreation soccer, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his enthusiasm for learning and adventure.
Among those who will miss him most is his brother Eli. The two spent countless hours together crafting, playing outdoors, gaming, and talking late into the night. Their bond was one of friendship, laughter, and unconditional love.
A funeral service celebrating Oli’s life will be held on September 5 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston. In honor of his passion for collecting rocks, attendees are invited to bring a rock that will help create a memorial garden dedicated to his memory.
Though his life was far too short, Oli’s legacy of kindness, faith, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. His family hopes that in remembering him, others will choose compassion and kindness, carrying forward the values that defined his remarkable young life.
